Getting dark outside. Particularly in the most northern regions of Finland where the sun will rise next time around mid-January 2022. Happy to share some lighting news about the recent EWRS activities.
The EWRS administrative meetings were held in Helsinki on 19-21 November. A hybrid implementation was fluently applied for both SciCom and Board meetings to ensure comprehensive attendance. Moreover, the next EWRS General Assembly will be organized as a virtual meeting on 7th December 2021, for the second time in EWRS history. Please follow the incoming messages to prepare yourself for the 48th Assembly.
The arrangements for the 19th EWRS Symposium 2022 in Athens, Greece have taken notable steps forward during the autumn. SciCom Officers Josef Soukup and Husrev Mennan have agreed on main organizational issues with the LoCom in Athens. We have decided to offer a hybrid event with physical and on-line options for attendance. The first step to indicate your current preliminary preference will be asked in the Event Manager when you upload your Abstracts by the end of December. The actual Registration will start in April 2022. At that moment we will have a better outlook about the conceivable restrictions related to the Covid19. Right now, I encourage you all to stay tuned on the Symposium web site www.ewrs2022.org and continue with writing your contributions.
The re-vitalization of EWRS Working Groups was thoroughly discussed in the SciCom meeting in Helsinki. After some silent years, partly due to the covid, we really start to activate the WGs because they have the responsibility to promote, implement and co-ordinate the scientific program of EWRS. Some re-arrangements in the current set of WGs will be introduced. Please contact the WG Coordinators if you are interested in influencing the future developments in your own subject area. Moreover, the EWRS Scientific Committee is always keen to receive proposals for new Working Groups.
The EWRS Elections will be organized during the coming weeks. The Election Committee, composed by Judith Wirth, Maor Matzrafi and Lammert Bastiaans, has succeeded to compile a ballot list of highly experienced potential candidates for the position of EWRS Vice President and two Additional Board members. Your turn to be active and vote!
