EWRS Travel Grant for Bilateral Cooperation 2026

El Mehdi Raid, a PhD student at Agronomic and Veterinary Institute Hassan II in Rabat, Morocco, has been awarded the EWRS Travel Grant for Bilateral Cooperation 2026, by the European Weed Research Society (EWRS).
The project, entitled “Herbicide Resistance Screening of Bromus diandrus and Papaver rhoeas Populations from Morocco and Spain” focuses on the experimental assessment of herbicide resistance under controlled conditions. Populations of the two species from Morocco showing reduced herbicide sensitivity will be analyzed and compared with reference populations from Spain.
The research stay will take place from September to November 2026 at University of Lleida, under the supervision of Prof. Joel Torra Farré, in collaboration with the home supervisor Prof. Fagroud Mustapha.
