Update EWRS events in relation to COVID-19
EWRS Board meeting and COVID-19 outbreak
On Thursday, March 12 the ExCom of the EWRS met in Ede, the Netherlands, together with the past-President Paul Neve. Next to various other issues, they also discussed about implications of the Corona-virus for upcoming EWRS events. Both the joint meeting of the WG’s ‘Physical and Cultural Weed control’ and ‘Herbicide Resistance’ (Netherlands, 6 & 7 April 2020) and the meeting of the WG ‘ Germination & Early Growth’ (Italy, 26-28 May 2020) will be postponed. The WG-coordinators will keep the participants informed on rescheduling of these events. Also the Scicom and Board meetings scheduled for 4-5 April 2020 are cancelled. Members of Scicom will be contacted by the Scientific Secretary, as no new meeting is scheduled for this year. The new Board meeting is scheduled for September 2020 in Prague, in conjunction with the Glyphosate meeting. Whether the IWSC in Bangkok will take place will be decided by the board of the IWSS and announced early April. This decision will have implications for the pre-congress workshop on “Confirming and characterizing herbicide resistance" planned to take place before the IWSC 2020 in Bangkok (Thailand) on June 21st from 8.30-12.30 that is organised by the EWRS Working Group Education & Training.
