Scholarships, Assistantships and Postdoctoral Positions

The University of Maine is seeking a motivated and skilled agroecologist, agronomist, or ecologist, with an interest in ecologically-based weed management in organic and low-external-input (LEI) cropping systems, to join the Weed Ecology Group.

The position is available starting July 1, 2010, for a 2-year appointment, which could be extended for up to one additional year, contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding availability. EWRS SCHOLARSHIP :

EWRS has allocated a sum of money for the workshop. The money will be dedicated to subsidise young scientists in participating the " 2^nd Workshop on Invasive Alien Plants in Mediterranean Type Regions of the World" in Trabzon , Turkey, 2 – 6 August 2010.

Rules:
Junior scientists (e.g. MSc students, PhD students, post-docs of younger than 35 years old can be subsidised if the applicant
(1) is presenting a paper (oral or poster) in the session organised by EWRS,
(2) sends a scanned (pdf) version of its ID card or other personal document testifying her/his present job position,
(3) the applicant commits him(her)self to acknowledge EWRS during her/his presentation.

Preference would be given to applicants who have not yet received a EWRS subsidy before.
The amount of an individual subsidy (partially for fees, travel costs, lodging) cannot exceed € 500. Part of subsidy is EWRS membership for one year including subscription of 1 copy of the journal "Weed Research". Therefore max. € 470 for students (€ 460 for others) will be reimbursed to the applicant.

The subsidy is reimbursed by the EWRS treasurer to the receipt within three months after the event.
